Ex-Juventus striker David Trezeguet defined Inter as the ‘strongest and most complete’ Serie A side but hopes Dusan Vlahovic can score to inspire his former side to a win that would be a ‘strong signal’ for all the league.
The Bianconeri travel to the San Siro to face Simone Inzaghi’s side, who sit just one point above them, and the former France international believes these two teams will be involved in the title fight alongside Antonio Conte’s Napoli, as he sees Milan ‘behind’ them.
As one of the most prolific strikers in the Old Lady’s history, Trezeguet noted that Juventus need Vlahovic to be ‘more decisive’ in order to boost their chances of winning the title, as the Serbia international will be judged for his ‘numbers’ as it is always the case for great strikers.
“Inter remain the strongest and most complete team in the league, but Antonio Conte’s Napoli will fight until the end: you can already see his touch,” Trezeguet told La Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview.
“Juventus have just begun an interesting path with Thiago Motta, they had a good start and will need to stay in the wake of Napoli and Inter, ready to take advantage [of any slip-up].
“I see Milan behind these three teams.”
Trezeguet has fond memories of the Derby d’Italia fixtures played throughout his Juventus stint, which was marked by two Serie A title wins.
“We always played very good games at San Siro, the Derby d’Italia is always a particular night,” the former striker added.
“My best memory dates back to the 2007/2008 season, when we returned to Serie A after the Calciopoli scandal: we beat Inter 2-1 with goals from me and Camoranesi.
“It was a special victory for the fans, who cared even more about this game after that season in Serie B.
“I hope Vlahovic scores this time.”

The Serbian striker has found the net five times in Juventus’ first eight Serie A matches, but Trezeguet feels he should ‘determine’ more than he does, although this also ‘depends’ on his teammates.
“He’s a striker with important qualities, but he should determine more, like Lautaro does for Inter,” Trezeguet said.
“Motta relies a lot on Dusan, and he must become even more decisive. We can talk a lot, but Juventus’ history is clear: the central striker is required to score and he’s judged for his numbers. It was like that for me, and now it’s the same with Vlahovic.
“He moves well: he scored seven goals and has the quality to reach 30 goals, but it also depends on Juventus. The team must have the same will and be offensive.
“I hope Vlahovic can overtake me with time, records are done to be beaten. A great striker must live for goals and write history.
“Winning a Scudetto would help Vlahovic make a leap in quality.”
