Super Cup Semifinals Set: Mohun Bagan Face Goa While Jamshedpur Meet Mumbai City

The Super Cup 2025 semifinal matchups are confirmed following an exciting quarterfinal round that saw Kerala Blasters exit the competition after a 2-1 defeat to Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

Despite fielding a second-string squad without key foreign players, Mohun Bagan remain on course for a remarkable domestic treble. Having already secured the Indian Super League Cup and Shield this season, the Mariners are now just one win away from reaching their first-ever Super Cup final.

Standing in their way is FC Goa, managed by Manolo Marquez in what will be his final competition with the club. The Gaurs advanced after completing a comeback victory against Punjab FC in their quarterfinal clash.

"I think the game will be very difficult because they have nothing to lose," Marquez said during his pre-match press conference. "This is the reality. They have already won two trophies and secured a slot for continental competition."

The tactical battle could see Mohun Bagan utilize Ashique Kuruniyan and Salahudheen Adnan K on the flanks to challenge Goa's aerial advantage in defense. Sahal Abdul Samad, who scored against his former club Kerala Blasters in the quarterfinal, is expected to control midfield for the Mariners.

Goa will likely rely on Ayush Chhetri and Borja Herrera for creativity, with forwards Dejan Drazic and Iker Guarrotxena providing additional options. Marquez could also call upon Brison Fernandes or Mohammad Yasir, both of whom made significant impacts off the bench in their previous match.

The second semifinal pits Mumbai City FC against Jamshedpur FC. Mumbai City, recovering from a disappointing ISL campaign, defeated Chennaiyin 4-0 before overcoming I-League side Inter Kashi 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

Jamshedpur, meanwhile, are hoping to break their semifinal curse after exiting at this stage in the previous two editions. Under Khalid Jamil, they defeated Hyderabad 2-0 before eliminating NorthEast United on penalties.

Mumbai City captain Lallianzuala Chhangte has found form at the right time, contributing three goals and an assist in the tournament so far. Coach Petr Kratky acknowledged the challenge ahead: "Jamshedpur is a very good team. They finished the season strong and are having a good tournament now as well."

Both semifinal matches will take place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
