Tottenham have a tough home game against high-flying Nottingham Forest on Monday night hoping to end their rotten Premier League run that has seen them win just one of their last six games.

The game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be aired on Sky Sports Main Event as part of their Monday Night Football coverage, with kick-off at 8pm GMT.

Tottenham predicted line-up vs Nottingham Forest

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Vicario, Gray, Danso, Romero, Spence, Sarr, Bissouma, Odobert, Kulusevski, Tel, Solanke

Like Manchester United, Spurs will be looking to nurse their players through an important end to the season after securing an impressive victory away at Frankfurt to reach the Europa League semi-finals.

With the Premier League looking like dead rubber for Ange Postecoglou – as his side sit in 15th place – he will be looking to prioritise winning the club’s first trophy since 2008 ahead of their last four clash against Bodo/Glimt on May 1 and you can expect a heavily rotated side against Forest.

Archie Gray and Djed Spence were rested against Frankfurt but should come back in for this one, as they did in the 4-2 loss to Wolves – while Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma could return to midfield to give Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentacur a rest.

Son Heung-min missed the trip to Germany so Mathys Tel is expected to continue on the left wing in front of Dominic Solanke, with Wilson Odobert possibly earning a start on the right wing.

Dejan Kulusevski came on as a sub for James Maddison and could be ready for a full start against Forest as Postecoglou looks to build up his fitness.

Son remains a doubt for this game after a foot injury ruled him out against Frankfurt and it would seem unlikely he will be involved – at least not in the starting XI. Postecoglou will be eager to get him fit in time for the semi-final so he won’t be risked.

The only other concern is Maddison, who was forced off during the Frankfurt win after being clattered into by goalkeeper Kaua Santos – earning the penalty that Solanke stroked home to seal their victory.

It seemed to be a concerning injury for Maddison, who was down on the ground for some time after taking the blow to his head and Postecoglou will run checks on him before the game.

Due to the nature of his injury, it seems that the playmaker will be left out of the game – or at least benched – with Kulusevski starting in his place.

Their only other injury is Radu Dragusin, who is out for the season after having surgery to fix an ACL problem that he suffered during the Europa League group stage win over Elfsborg.

Postecoglou lives to see another day

Much of the talk ahead of the Frankfurt game was whether Ange Postecoglou would be sacked if Tottenham crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night, but the Australian set up his side superbly to pull off a battling display that showed his players are still fighting for him.

Some have suggested the former Celtic boss could still be sacked even if he wins the trophy, with Tottenham suffering one of their worst seasons in Premier League history. They have lost 17 league games and sit on 37 points – threatening to finish with their worst ever points tally. The record stands at 44 points from the 1997-98 season.

But after Postecoglou became only the second Spurs boss to guide them to a major European semi-final in the last 40 years, the fans who had appeared to turn on him might just give him a stay of execution – for now.

After the Frankfurt game, Postecoglou insisted he wasn’t concerned about his critics or those who now judged him differently based on the huge result.

“I’m the same coach that I was yesterday,” he said. “The players have never lost belief. People like to mock and diminish my achievements but I’ll leave that there.

“I don’t care, it doesn’t bother me, it doesn’t affect what I do. For me, it’s always about the dressing room. Do the players believe? Do the staff believe? That’s much more important than what others may make of me. So, unfortunately for a lot of you, you’re going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer.”
