Tottenham Hotspur have warned Manchester City they are not interested in selling left-back Destiny Udogie this summer, according to a report.
City have been looking for a new full-back ever since the January transfer window and it was recently revealed that 22-year-old Udogie had found his way on to Pep Guardiola's radar ahead of what could be an expensive summer.
Officials from the Etihad Stadium recognised any deal for Udogie would be a hugely complicated one and, as relayed by Florian Plettenberg, Spurs have only contributed to those concerns by taking a defiant stance on his future.
Spurs have refused to even set an asking price for Udogie, making it clear to City that they have no desire to entertain a departure for the Italy international.
Udogie is recognised as a key part of both the present and future at Spurs and club officials will do all they can to keep hold of the young defender.
Spurs are expected to be in the market for a new left-back this summer but likely as a backup to Udogie. Right-sided Djed Spence has been the usual cover this year, with Sergio Reguilon out in the cold under Ange Postecoglou.
As for City, interest remains in Juventus' Andrea Cambiaso and there had been optimism that a deal could be struck for around £60m, but it was recently reported that investment from the Serie A side's owners mean Juve no longer face an urgent need to sell a key player like Cambiaso.
There is a desire to replace right-back Kyle Walker, who has been on loan with AC Milan since January. An option for a permanent transfer worth €5m (£4.3m) may not be triggered but City will not welcome the England international back into the squad even if he does return to the club.
