Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Arnaud Kalimuendo from Ligue 1 side Rennes, according to L’Équipe.
They endured a poor Premier League campaign, finishing 17th in the table.
However, they won the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The club is working to improve their squad under new manager Thomas Frank. He has already begun discussions with the board about potential transfer targets.
Kalimuendo has impressed several clubs across Europe with his performances in the French top flight.
The forward bagged 18 goals and four assists in all competitions last season.
Tottenham have reportedly stepped up their interest in recent days and made contact with Rennes about the striker’s availability.
Although no formal bid has been submitted, initial talks have been held to understand the Ligue 1 club’s demands.
According to Transfermarkt, Kalimuendo is valued at around €22 million.
Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United are also monitoring the situation and could join the race.
Kalimuendo is known for his movement, link-up play and smart runs behind the defence. He can play across the front line.
His strengths include pace, ball control, and sharp finishing. He is also effective when linking up with teammates in the final third.
Tottenham are looking to add fresh energy to their attacking options, and Kalimuendo fits the profile of the player they want.
They are also interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. The coming weeks could see further developments as Tottenham prepare to return to the Champions League.
