Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Manchester City over a deal to sign Savinho.
The two clubs are in discussions over a potential deal for the Brazilian winger. Savinho signed for Manchester City from sister-club Girona last summer and enjoyed a mixed first campaign in the Premier League. He provided eight assists for Pep Guardiola’s side, but scored just once in 21 league starts.
The Athletic are reporting that City are not actively looking to sell Savinho but will consider offers with a fee in the region of €50m (£43m) being discussed. Crucially, the 21-year-old is open to a move to North London in search of a more prominent role.
City have added Rayan Cherki to their attacking options this summer, while Oscar Bobb has also returned from a long-term lay-off.
Guardiola is unlikely to stand in Savinho’s way if the player pushes for a move. The Citizens are also keen to reduce their squad numbers ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Thomas Frank wants to add another creative player to his squad, after James Maddison was ruled out for for several months with an ACL injury. Heung-min Son has also departed, joining MLS outfit Los Angeles FC for a fee in the region of £20m.
Spurs have signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham but missed out on the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
