In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on re-signing Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English talent this off-season.
Walker-Peters managed to catch the eye at times for the Saints in the previous campaign as he produced a series of solid displays for them in the Premier League. The 28-year-old particpated in 35 matches for Southampton last season, picking up a couple of assists in various competitions.
The London-born talent performed his defensive duties well and deserves credit for making 44 tackles, 27 blocks and 19 interceptions in the Premier League. He was even excellent when distributing possession from the back after completing 88.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the English club will expire at the end of this month which could open the door for the North London club to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Walker-Peters is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can make some driving runs with the ball on the right flank.
The English sensation is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s first XI. He has got enough experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club.
At 28, Walker-Peters is playing in his prime which makes him a good choice for Spurs to pursue this off-season. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming years. All in all, Frank would be wise to go all out to sign Walker-Peters on a free transfer ahead of the new campaign.
