Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly back in the hunt for one of their previously linked transfer targets, Tyler Dibling. The 19-year-old Southampton winger enjoyed a standout Premier League campaign despite his side’s relegation, and his performances have reignited top-flight interest.
As Give Me Sport reports, Dibling made 33 league appearances in the 2023/24 season, emerging as a key figure under Russell Martin. He also added two goals in the FA Cup, underlining his growing influence and ability to deliver at senior level. Described as having a “superstar” aura, his direct style, confident ball-carrying and ability to take on defenders caught the attention of elite opposition, including Manchester United and Liverpool.

Southampton’s return to the Championship has forced a reassessment of their valuation. Initially, they had placed a staggering £100 million price tag on Dibling. However, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed on EFL Analysis that the price has dramatically dropped.
“Southampton once asked for £100million, but I am told that £40million will get the deal done,” Bailey confirmed. That represents a substantial discount, and one that may now tempt Tottenham to act.
The reduced figure reflects both Southampton’s financial positioning after relegation and Dibling’s ambition to remain at Premier League level. For a club like Spurs, with a strategy focused on young, high-ceiling talents, the deal may now align with their long-term planning.
Tottenham have shown a clear intent to build for the future, targeting players like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in recent windows. Dibling would comfortably fit into that mould. At just 19, he already has a full season of Premier League experience behind him and the temperament to perform on the biggest stage.
The Lilywhites are not alone in monitoring the situation. Reports suggest David Moyes is also keen, with other clubs keeping tabs on developments. However, Spurs’ recruitment department has often moved decisively when their targets align with the club’s philosophy.
Dibling’s attacking instincts and fearless play style match what Thomas Frank wants from his wide forwards. He offers versatility, capable of operating on either flank or even in a more central attacking role. His acceleration, vision and goal threat give him a modern, multi-functional edge.

With pre-season underway and transfer activity gathering pace, Spurs must decide how quickly they want to act. The lowered fee places Dibling firmly within reach, but competition may intensify as the window progresses.
While there is no confirmed bid as yet, the groundwork has already been laid in the past. Tottenham’s earlier interest in Dibling was no secret, and their admiration for his potential remains unchanged.
At £40 million, Spurs have a decision to make. They can watch from a distance or lead the race. The opportunity is clear, and the timing may never be better.
Tottenham fans will feel this is exactly the kind of deal that makes sense under the current strategy. Tyler Dibling has shown he can thrive in the Premier League, and his standout games against top sides prove he is not phased by the occasion.
He ticks all the boxes. He is young, homegrown, technically gifted and hungry to prove himself at the highest level. At £40 million, in today’s market, that is a price many would argue reflects his growing stature.
With Thomas Frank looking to build a side with pace, energy and pressing intensity, Dibling offers a natural fit. He could be used in rotation with Brennan Johnson, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski while still developing under strong guidance.
What also appeals is his versatility. He could operate off either wing or even be moulded into a more central attacking role in future seasons. If Spurs are serious about returning to the top four, these are the types of moves that must be made early, before bigger names enter the frame.
Dibling would not just be a depth option. He is ready to compete. With the Saints in the Championship, this summer feels like the right time for him to step up, and Spurs would be a perfect platform.
