Tottenham Hotspur are apparently contemplating making a huge move to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in the January transfer window, despite Chelsea interest.

As it stands, Tottenham are not in a promising position. Their first half of the Premier League season has been woeful as they currently sit 15th in the table; without a doubt, they need a strong second chapter in this campaign.

To do so, Ange Postecoglou might wish to dabble in the January transfer window. It comes at a pivotal time for Spurs, who simply need reinforcements if they are to bow out the season in fashion.

For a long period of time, Ange has teased the potential of signing a new striker. He does not want to replace Dominic Solanke but he would like to bring in a player to back him up.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham might even make a "blockbuster" move to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this month. The news comes as the Tottenham hierarchy are eager to back Postecoglou and his transfer plans in this window.

Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Liam Delap. Having admired him at Ipswich Town in their first season back in the Premier League, he is impressed with the big target-man's displays so far.

Despite Tottenham wanting to back Postecoglou's transfer ambitions, they will not do so at any price. Yep, there's that catch you were waiting for.

As always, Daniel Levy is looking to cut costs and he won't be dragged into any bidding war, nor will he overpay for a player. So, Ipswich's valuation must be fair for Tottenham to pull the trigger.

Considering Ipswich now face an uphill battle to survive relegation from the Premier League, it is difficult to envision them doing so without their best player Liam Delap. Therefore, it wouldn't come as a surprise if they demand a huge transfer fee from Tottenham.

Another obstacle which Tottenham will face in this transfer race is interest from Chelsea. Like Spurs, the Blues are eager to add to their attacking ranks before the end of the season.

With Chelsea, there always comes a bidding war. The Blues are infamous for overspending on players, so this is not a battle Spurs will willingly involve themselves in.
