Toronto FC is fully focused on rebuilding its squad for the 2025 season, aiming to regain the competitive edge that once made it a dominant force in the MLS.

While the 2024 season showed moments of promise, the club acknowledges that significant improvements are needed to reclaim its former glory.

The team has struggled in recent years, falling far from the championship-winning heights of its past. Much of this decline has been attributed to misguided decisions by the club’s management, prioritizing high-profile signings over building a sustainable, cohesive team.

Now, Toronto FC is adopting a more strategic approach, making difficult roster choices to set the foundation for future success.

Luke Singh’s Journey Comes to an End

One of the notable departures in this restructuring is defender Luke Singh, whose contract extension option has been declined. Singh’s journey with Toronto FC began in 2019 when he joined the club’s academy.

After years of development, he earned his first-team contract in 2021, debuting with high hopes. However, his time in the squad was short-lived, as he managed to appear in only eight matches and score one goal during his tenure.

Following his brief stint in the first team, Singh was loaned out to various clubs, including Atlético Ottawa, where he played a key role in the 2024 season. Singh made 22 appearances, logging over 1,600 minutes on the field and becoming a vital part of Ottawa’s defense.

Despite this, his time with Toronto FC will come to an official end in December 2024 when his loan expires, leaving uncertainty about his next steps in professional soccer.

Toronto FC’s decision to part ways with Singh and Prince Owusu signals a new direction for the club, emphasizing a commitment to building a team with a sustainable vision. As the club enters the 2025 season, its fans will hope that these changes lead to a brighter future and a return to the glory days of Toronto FC.
