Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is Chelsea’s main target as they look to sign a centre back this month according to reports.
Chelsea were expected to have a quiet window, but it looks like their plans are going to change given injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana.
Those injuries have left Chelsea light defensively and the club are exploring a number of options to sure up their backline as they look to return to the Champions League.
Chelsea are said to be exploring the possibility of recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Palace, which would be the most cost effective option.
However, that situation appears it could turn ugly given the 25-year-old supposedly missed Palace’s FA Cup win against Stockport due to contractual issues.
The Blues also hold a strong interest in former academy graduate and now Eagles captain Guehi, but it’s believed a January deal will be difficult to do.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner has said Guehi wants to stay, although the England international is into the final 18 months of his contract, and if he doesn’t sign fresh terms his value will continue to drop.
Chelsea will of course have other names on their list, but Mail Sport have reported that Guehi is their primary target at centre back.
Palace valued their captain at £70m in the summer with Newcastle having multiple bids rejected for the England international, and Chelsea are said to value Guehi at less than £50m.
The Blues are thought to be open to the idea of using Chalobah as part of a potential deal for Guehi, but his wages could be a stumbling block for Palace.

It will be really interesting to see how this situation develops over the coming days and weeks and when or if Chelsea decide to make their move.
If the Blues do complete a deal it will see a return to Stamford Bridge for Guehi who left for Palace in 2021 for £18m.
