Victory over Dundee United on Sunday afternoon secured Celtic FC Women’s return to winning ways as the Ghirls maintained their 100 per cent record on the road this season.
Three points on their travels to Foundation Park sealed another important three points, taking the Hoops’ tally to 33 points from 12 league fixtures so far this campaign.
Impressively in those games, the Celts have managed to rack up 55 goals, with a whole host of players contributing in front of goal.
The duo of Imane Addi and Tiree Burchill were ultimately with the difference makers in the match, scoring the all-important goals to deliver three points for Celtic in the City of Discovery.
Coming off the bench in the second half, Burchill has picked up a knack of scoring for the Hoops this campaign, as the youngster took her tally for the season to four goals.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the 18-year-old expressed her delight at being able to make an impact as a substitute once again.
Although Burchill won’t have known much about her goal, after she deflected Chloe Craig’s effort into the back of the net, the Academy prospect is ultimately pleased no matter how the goals come.
She said: “Yeah, it was a good performance. It was good to get the win and we are very happy with the three points.
“That was ultimately what we were after with the loss against Rangers before the international break.
“So we are just happy to get the three points and get back down the road!
“I didn’t know much about the goal, but when you are coming off the bench you just want to make an impact.
‘So a goal is a goal! I’ll take it any day of the week.’
“Any time I come on the pitch, I just try my best to make an impact I anyway I can. If I score with any foot or part of the body, I’m happy!”
So far this campaign, the depth in Fran Alonso’s squad has proved crucial in games, and that was once again the case on Sunday with Burchill’s impact off the bench making sure of the victory.
As one of the younger members of the squad, for Burchill it is important to take her opportunities when they come along.
After returning from international duty with Scotland under-19s, the versatile midfielder was delighted to be back amongst the action with her club team-mates this weekend.
Burchill is now looking forward to the hard work continuing, with another big game on the horizon next week against Glasgow City in the Sky Sports Cup.
“The depth in our squad is crazy,” she said. “There are so many talented players, so you just have to work hard and when you get your chance, you’ve just got to try and take it.
‘It feels like I’ve been away for ages! But being back with the girls is great, it’s great to see them all and we are all happy with today – so we are all buzzing.’
“Next week is a massive game. We are just going to rest with the day off tomorrow, before getting our heads down and working hard for the rest of the week, and then look to get the win next Friday.”
