Rasmus Hojlund hasn’t lived up to expectations in the Premier League, but the top Serie A teams would flock if Manchester United made him available in the summer, as Inter, Napoli, and Juventus would all be ready to tender their offers, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
The Nerazzurri have gathered intel in recent weeks. They are headed for a vast offensive overhaul and plan to acquire multiple strikers. Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are on expiring contracts, and they’ll touch base with Mehdi Taremi’s entourage after the Champions League final.
Napoli, Juventus, and Inter chased after Hojlund while he was at Atalanta, but Manchester United blew them out of the water with an €80M offer plus add-ons. The Italian outfits are assessing whether the Red Devils will let him go for more manageable figures and perhaps on an initial loan.
The Dane is a more popular target than Joshua Zirkzee, who’s also been attached to the Nerazzurri. They intend to bring in a talent and somebody more established but still young-ish. The two potential Red Devils outcasts fall into the second category. He has notched 26 goals and 6 assists in 94 games in England.
He’s an easy bet to fare better after a change of scenery, but, unless there’s a fire sale at Manchester United, which is a possibility, he might be too expensive for Serie A franchises. His wages are rather large too, unlike Zirkzee’s. From a technical and roster construction standpoint, the Bianconeri would be the most logical landing spot, as he’d be the unchallenged top option. They’ll also likely splurge the most in such a role.
