The Dane has signed a three-year deal with Spurs and has big shoes to fill after Ange Postecoglou won the Europa League, delivering the club’s first title since 2008.
At Brentford, Frank oversaw some of the Bees’ best days. He first joined the club as assistant head coach in 2016, taking on the top job two years later.
He was largely responsible for Brentford’s 2020 promotion to the Premier League, since being recognized as one of Europe’s most modern and versatile coaches. He very nearly saw them into the Confernece League this season, finishing tenth in the Premier League. He ended his time in charge with a 1-1 draw away to Wolves.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles, who worked closely with Frank throughout his tenure, has now bid his former manager a public goodbye, reminiscing on their relationship and his connection with the fans.
“It has been a pleasure working alongside Thomas,” he wrote. "From the moment he replaced Dean Smith, he understood what we were trying to build and his wisdom, coaching ability and emotional intelligence have helped transform the club.
“There have been so many special moments with Thomas and nobody will ever forget the day at Wembley for the play-off final or that emotional first Premier League game against Arsenal.
“But it’s not just what you see on the pitch. He forged a special connection with our fans, helped develop and improve players, and was instrumental in implementing the culture that has seen Brentford go from strength to strength.
“However, just as when a player leaves, it provides an opportunity for someone else to come in and make their own impact.
“We will never forget Thomas, but now it is time to thank him and take the next steps in our journey with a new leader who we believe can be just as successful and influential.”
Frank is just the second Brentford manager to coach in the English top flight, and now boast’s the third-best win record of any Bees coach (132).
Brentford have been linked to Scott Parker as they prepare to rebuild ahead of next season.
