“There is an out…” – Pundit has spotted big weakness in Chelsea’s defence

It’s half time in Chelsea’s game against Leicester City at home, and it’s been another dreadful 45 minutes from Enzo Maresca’s Blues.

They look tired, slow, low on confidence. A totally different side to the one that was tearing teams apart with speed and skill back in the Autumn. Something has to change at half time.

They stepped things up instantly after the break on Thursday night against Copenhagen – we need to pray they can do the same again today. Otherwise they’ll be leaving with just a point – or even worse, if the Foxes find a way through against a defence that has been very shaky in recent months.

On BBC 5Live, former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has spotted a weakness in his old team’s setup which the away team could exploit:

“There is an out for Leicester down the right-hand side. Marc Cucurella is the full-back that loves getting forward for Chelsea, so more often than not, he is a little late to get back in there,” Schwarzer noted.

“That ball over the top is always on for the Foxes and they’ve done a couple of times through James Justin.”

While Cucurella is pushing forward aggressively on his side, Wesley Fofana is staying tight and deep on his, keeping us secure there but offering little support to the attackers ahead of him.

Former keeper gives his thoughts on Palmer’s missed penalty

Cole Palmer misses his first Chelsea penalty.

Schwarzer also had some thoughts on Cole Palmer’s penalty which the out of form talisman missed, giving plenty of credit to Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen as you’d expect:

“Cole Palmer’s penalty wasn’t one from someone with a lot of confidence. He went for power over real placement and the goalkeeper does so, so well. It wasn’t his best penalty.”
