According to Birmingham Live, the Blues are not currently in the market for the Serbian, who is competing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.

The 30-year-old made the switch from Fulham in 2023, having played a key role in re-establishing Marco Silva’s side in the Premier League.

He scored 43 goals in the Championship to help the club gain promotion, before scoring another 14 in the top flight to secure a 10th place finish in the table before moving to the Middle East.

Mitrovic has previously been linked with both Sunderland and Leeds United this summer amid speculation over his future with Al-Hilal.

Darwin Nunez has joined the Saudi Arabian outfit, leading to questions over a possible return to English football for the Serbian.

Speaking on Talksport, journalist Alex Crook claimed that Birmingham could also be a possible destination for the striker.

However, it has now been claimed that the 30-year-old is not currently on the Championship side’s radar.

It is understood that his £400,000 per week wages are a major stumbling block to a deal.

While it’s believed that Mitrovic is willing to take a pay cut to return to English football, it’s still expected that his wage demands could be quite high.

Birmingham City’s summer business

It has been reported that Birmingham are likely to be busy in the remaining couple of weeks of the window, even if Mitrovic’s arrival is not planned.

The Midlands outfit have already signed Kyogo Furuhashi and Marvin Ducksch as forward options this summer, along with already having Jay Stansfield.

Other arrivals such as Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kanya Fujimoto, Demarai Gray, Phil Neumann, Eiran Cashin, Tommy Doyle and James Beadle have been completed.

Permanent deals for Alfons Sampsted and Taylor Gardner-Hickman have also bolstered Chris Davies’ side this summer.

Mitrovic signing would be risky by Birmingham

There’s no doubt that Mitrovic would be a big signing this summer to boost Davies’ side immediately and help power their Premier League ambitions.

But at 30, and given the wages he’d likely want, the cost of a deal means it would be quite risky for the club.

With the level of attacking options already in the squad, it might be better for Birmingham to focus their resources elsewhere before the end of the window.

It also remains unclear whether Mitrovic would be willing to move to a Championship side, especially if there is concrete interest from the Premier League at this stage.
