News has emerged from England suggesting that the top European leagues are close to an agreement over changing the closing of the summer transfer window.

According to The Times (via Calciomercato.com), there is a possible drastic and revolutionary change on the horizon in European football because the top leagues are discussing to try to close the summer transfer window on August 15, starting from next year.

The negotiations between the various continental federations are continuing without stopping to try to find a solution as soon as possible and put the new rules in place next year. The ECA Executive has already agreed and one of the Leagues most involved in this negotiation is the Premier League.

However, the feeling is that LaLiga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A will also follow their lead, to try and standardise and synchronise the transfer windows and to avoid starting the season with the window open.

The Times then recalls how a similar attempt by English football had already been attempted during 2018, but did not produce the desired effects.

They also question whether Saudi Arabia and Qatar would be involved, because there is still a question mark over them and at the moment they are not part of the agreement.
