La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted the similarities between Daniele De Rossi’s and José Mourinho’s sackings at Roma, saying that both coaches didn’t expect the club’s decision and were informed while preparing for a training session at Trigoria.
On Wednesday, Roma suddenly sacked their coach, De Rossi, and hired ex-Torino boss Ivan Juric.
It was a sudden and unexpected decision, as it had happened nine months earlier when De Rossi had been called to replace the fired Mourinho.
Gazzetta reports that De Rossi arrived at Trigoria at 7:30 am local time on Wednesday to prepare for a training session ahead of a Serie A match against Udinese.
Surprisingly, he was called to Dan and Ryan Friedkin’s office and informed about the club’s decision at 8 am.
The club’s decision stunned the coach and the players, precisely like Mourinho’s firing nine months ago. The Roma players were informed about De Rossi’s sacking on the Whatsapp group chat.
Furious fans confronted Roma players outside Trigoria on Wednesday evening after Juric had taken charge of his first training session as the new Giallorossi boss.
The former Croatia international has signed a contract until the end of the season.
