Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin believes Nicolas Jackson needs some “love” but isn’t sure what he offers is enough for the Blues.
Jackson is currently part of the the squad at the Club World Cup, but was suspended for the 3-0 win against ES Tunis on Tuesday evening after getting sent off against Flamengo.
The 24-year-old had his ban extended by FIFA for an additional game and the Senegalese will now miss the last sixteen clash against Benfica.
The red card was Jackson’s second in his last five appearances and he once again let his team-mates down and left them in a difficult situation as was the case against Newcastle.
Jackson issued a lengthy apology on Instagram, but since then speculation about his future has gone into overdrive.
Juventus and Napoli have been linked with a move for the striker, but it’s been reported Chelsea aren’t actively looking to sell Jackson, but would listen to acceptable offers.

Chelsea are thought to want more than £51m for Jackson, and he faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, whilst Nevin believes he needs some “love.”
“Jackson needs some love right now,” he told BBC Sport.
“He is a good striker and he was on an impressive upward learning curve before his injury earlier in the season, he is still one of the fastest strikers around, if not the most natural finisher.
“The problem is, I am not sure this will be enough for Chelsea now. He could do a job for a good Italian, French or Spanish side.
“For Chelsea it will all come down to the money offered but it just shows the vicious nature of football. You can go from indispensable to superfluous in a heartbeat – or 90 minutes at least.”
The absence of Jackson has handed Liam Delap a huge opportunity and he made the most of it by scoring his first Chelsea goal against ES Tunis on Tuesday.

Delap has a real chance to stake his claim and start the season as the number one striker, with Jackson also suspended for the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old has added a much needed extra dimension to Chelsea’s attack and looks like he could be a real handful for opposition defenders.
