Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to extend the current cap on away ticket prices for a tenth consecutive season
Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to extend the current cap on away ticket prices for a tenth consecutive season.
The price cap has been in place since 2016 and has seen away attendance figures rise from 82% to 91% over the past decade - with the 2024/2025 season recording 953,420 away supporters across all 380 top-flight games.
This agreement means that supporters of all three promoted clubs - Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland - will benefit from affordable away tickets when following their teams to some of the country's most expensive stadiums.
The Premier League announced that all 20 clubs had reached an unanimous agreement to maintain the £30 maximum price for away tickets, marking a full decade since the policy was first introduced.
The top-flight hierarchy acknowledge in their statement that they "recognise the additional costs associated with fans following their team during the season" - also mentioning the atmosphere they create.
This decision comes as part of the Premier League's broader Fan Engagement Standard - which was launched in 2023 to reinforce club's commitment to meaningful supporter engagement.
In the grand scheme of things, the price cap does represent a nice amount of savings - particularly when considering some clubs were charging upwards of £50 before its introduction.
The ticket cap will be huge for supporters of Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland - due to Premier League allocation typically follow the rule of either 3,000 tickets or 10% of stadium capacity - whichever is lower.
For most Premier League grounds, away allocations will bet set at 3,000 - as expected, you'll only find the smaller capacity of 10% at smaller grounds - like Bournemouth.
For Leeds fans - the £30 cap will make away days significantly more affordable compared to some Championship fixtures. It's worth noting though that the increased demand for Premier League away days means accessing these tickets will likely become more challenging if you're relying on general sale.
Claret's supporters will be more than thankful to be bouncing back up again to benefit from the price stability that the cap does provide. Similarly, Mackems have endured years in the third-tier before their Championship success - so will find Premier League away days a lot more accessible than they might have been without the cap in place.
