Bayern Keeper Manuel Neuer spoke of his excitement of playing in front of a packed Celtic Park after his teammate Thomas Müller gave him the lowdown on the famous atmosphere created in Paradise. An occasion that’s been described by many as the best they’ve had the pleasure of playing in.

The Celtic wall of noise on European nights

Few can match us when it comes to creating a Celtic wall of noise on European nights, and it clearly makes a lasting impression on visiting players and supporters alike. But as much as it’s a great compliment, it’s also kind of patronising. Most elite sides who come here with their ‘superstar’ players leave with a victory, sometimes a comfortable one.

It sometimes feels as if the Celtic Park atmosphere is something of a side show, and a bit of pre-match welcoming entertainment for the mollycoddled stars of European football. A bit like the cringy piper led welcome that beckoned a star studded Barcelona side a few years back.

We want these top players to dread playing at Paradise

We want these top players to dread playing here. We want them to warn others of the intimidating atmosphere that they will face when going to Celtic Park. We want it to be a place that every opposition player dreads playing in.

Let’s start to make that a reality, starting tonight against Bayern Munich.
