Despite Barcelona having the upper hand in all three meetings this season, Real Madrid have every reason to believe they can turn things around in the final El Clasico of the campaign.

Los Blancos may be trailing by four points with only two games left, but they arrive at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys with history firmly on their side.

A win would throw the title race wide open, and if there is one team built for big moments, it is Real Madrid.

Barcelona may have cruised to victories earlier in the season—0-4 in La Liga at the Bernabeu, 2-5 in the Super Cup final, and 2-3 in the Copa del Rey—but consistency at home against Madrid has always been an issue for the Catalans.

The capital club have regularly silenced Barça on their own turf, and that psychological edge could prove crucial this weekend.

Recent history in Barcelona favours Real Madrid

When it comes to recent El Clasicos played in Barcelona, it is clear that Real Madrid have been the dominant side. In the last five meetings in the Catalan capital, Los Blancos have won four and lost just one.

Even stretching it out to the last ten away Clasicos, Madrid come out on top with five wins, three draws, and only two defeats.

Some of those wins have been unforgettable. The 4-0 demolition in the 2022/23 Copa del Rey semi-final and the commanding 3-1 victory in the 2017/18 Spanish Super Cup second leg still stand out.

On both occasions, Madrid took control of the match and left no doubt about their superiority. Even when Camp Nou was filled with home fans, it often felt like Madrid’s confidence took over the stadium.

Now, with the pressure on Barça to close out the title, Madrid have a chance to spoil the party once again.

If they can bring their top form and exploit Barcelona’s nervous energy at home, another famous El Clasico win could be on the cards—and with it, a possible final twist in the title race.
