Everton have completed the signing of Tyler Dibling from Southampton for a fee that could reach £40m with add-ons.

The 19-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Blues, and returns to the Premier League after relegation with Southampton last season. Dibling was a rare positive in a tough season at St Mary’s and now joins an Everton team who have undergone an exciting rebuild this summer.

His transfer to Merseyside also makes Dibling one of the most expensive English teenagers of all time.

5. Jobe Bellingham – Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund (£27.8m)

Jobe Bellingham’s summer move from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund has moved the midfielder into this list. Bellingham was named as the EFL Championship Young Player of the Year in 2024/25, following his role in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League.

Dortmund swooped in to sign the teenager, who has followed in the footsteps of older brother Jude in leaving English football for Dortmund. The German side will hope Jobe can have a similarly successful spell at the Westfalenstadion.

4. Lewis Hall – Chelsea to Newcastle (£28m)

Newcastle signed Lewis Hall from Chelsea on an initial loan deal with an obligation to make the move permanent for an initial fee of £28m.

Hall has made 58 appearances over his two seasons with the Magpies and broke into the England squad in 2024. He has won two caps for the Three Lions.

3. Luke Shaw – Southampton to Manchester United (£31m)

Luke Shaw has spent over a decade with Manchester United after joining from Southampton in 2014.

The defender signed for an initial £27m, a fee that has rose to £31m with add-ons. Though his time at Old Trafford has coincided with an inconsistent period for the team, he has won three major trophies and has twice been named Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year.

2. Tyler DiblingSouthampton to Everton (£35m)

Dibling takes second spot on this list, with Everton prepared to pay an initial £35m for a player with just 1875 minutes of Premier League football behind him.

The winger is considered one of English football’s best young talents and Everton can consider his signing a coup.

1. Archie Gray – Leeds United to Tottenham Hotspur (£40m)

Archie Gray became English football’s most expensive teenager in 2024, after signing for Tottenham from Leeds. Gray had won the EFL Championship Young Player of the Year award in 2023/24, though Leeds missed out on promotion.

The fee for the midfielder was reported to be around £40m, though Spurs offset that sum with the £10m transfer of Joe Rodon in the opposite direction.

Gray won the Europa League during his debut season at Spurs and made 46 appearances in all competitions.
