Following England’s 2-1 EURO 2024 final defeat to Spain, Gareth Southgate took the decision to step down as manager of the Three Lions. The search has now begun with several candidates, both English and foreign, being linked with the vacant position.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is one of the most admired coaches to grace the English game and this admiration is shared by the English FA. According to RMC Sport, the English Football Association dream of appointing the former Barcelona manager to replace Gareth Southgate after he resigned from the post. The Spanish head coach still has one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
