The Chelsea player who is not considered technical enough to play in Enzo Maresca’s system

There is one player who apparently is not considered technically good enough to play in Enzo Maresca’s system at Chelsea this season.

And to be honest, the amount of times said player has been picked reflects on that as well.

As you will know, Maresca has his A-Team and his B-Team. The A plays league matches, whilst the B plays cup matches. Some players can float between the two teams, but mainly they are different lineups altogether in order to keep on top of injuries and fatigue. So far it has worked a treat.

But there will be some players who will not be playing perhaps as much as they would like to be playing, and defender Axel Disasi will certainly be one of them.

Disasi used to be a regular under Mauricio Pochettino last season, but this season under Maresca, he has been a B-Team player at the most, and sometimes not even featuring in that team.

Disasi not good enough

Disasi is not good enough

He’s been pretty poor really. I think defensively he is a solid player, but on the ball he is more than questionable and liable to make many mistakes. He also gets dribbled past quite easily at times.

He is not technical enough for Maresca’s system, according to Liam Twomey of The Athletic.

In his latest article, Liam writes:

‘The noises coming out of Chelsea from the early days of pre-season were that Axel Disasi was not considered technical enough to play in Enzo Maresca’s system. His selection over the first 5 months of the campaign has done nothing to dispel that notion.’

I think this is spot on as well, Disasi has never looked good enough anyway even though I do appreciate his attitude and desire when he does play, and he has also had some good games in a Chelsea shirt. Overall though, he’s just not good enough.
