We took a look at the players who are out of contract at Blackburn Rovers at the end of the season

The English transfer window is set to open in just a few weeks' time, and that means that out of contract players can agree pre-contract terms with clubs abroad.

A pre-contract means that players can agree to sign for a new club in January but not join them until the summer, and it's a situation that John Eustace will be keen to avoid at Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers have some quality players out of contract at the end of the season, and with that in mind, here are the players who can sign a pre-contract away from Ewood Park next month.

Jack Barrett

22-year-old goalkeeper Jack Barrett is out of contract at Blackburn at the end of the season, although the club do hold an option to extend that by a year if they wish.

The youngster was signed from Everton in the summer, and has predominantly featured for Blackburn's U21 side in Premier League 2, where he's yet to keep a clean sheet in six appearances, conceding 17 goals in total.

This included seven in one game in August, and it would perhaps be a surprise if the club activated the option to extend his deal by a year.

Joe Hilton

25-year-old goalkeeper Joe Hilton is also out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could agree a pre-contract with a club abroad next month.

Hilton has been at Rovers since 2019, but has struggled for first-team opportunities and has spent a lot of time out on loan at various clubs.

Given his age and status as the club's third choice goalkeeper, he looks likely to leave when his contract expires.

Kyle McFadzean

Veteran defender Kyle McFadzean joined Blackburn from Coventry City last January, and while he played an important role in keeping the club in the division, he's struggled for minutes this season.

The 37-year-old possesses a wealth of Championship experience, but it's hard to envisage him agreeing a pre-contract elsewhere in January with his career seemingly winding down.

Danny Batth

Another one of the elder statesmen in the Blackburn squad, Danny Batth has played regularly since joining on a free transfer from Sunderland in the summer.

The 34-year-old signed a one-year deal with Eustace's side, so he's set to leave on a free transfer next summer, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he was offered a new deal, such has been the impact he's made since arriving last summer.

Dominic Hyam

Centre-back Dominic Hyam penned a three-year deal when he joined from Coventry City in the summer of 2022, and he's been a mainstay in Eustace's side this season.

Given the impact he's made, he'd certainly be a player that Blackburn want to keep at the club moving forward, and there could well be worries that clubs from abroad are lining up a deal to sign him on a pre-contract, so they'll want to get his contract situation resolved soon despite the fact they have the option to extend it by a year.

Andi Weimann

Andi Weimann joined Blackburn on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Bristol City, and the 33-year-old has impressed so far at Ewood Park.

The Austrian international only penned a one-year deal, so he's set to be on the move again next summer, and Eustace should be keen to keep the 33-year-old in Lancashire given his Championship experience and performances this season.

Ryan Hedges

Welsh international Hedges signed a three-and-half year deal with Rovers when he joined them from Aberdeen in January 2022, which means his deal is set to expire in the summer.

The club hold the option to extend his deal by a further year if they wish, and as a player who features in nearly every game, it would be a real surprise if they didn't choose to do so, but they'll have to be wary in case there are clubs from abroad keeping tabs on him.

Arnor Sigurdsson

Attacker Arnor Sigurdsson joined Blackburn Rovers initially on loan from CSKA Moscow, before making his stay at the club a permanent one in December 2023, putting pen-to-paper on a deal which kept him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2025.

However, he's struggled with injuries this season which has limited his playing time, and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he left the club in the summer, or even in January.

He was a target for Greek outfit PAOK Salonika in the summer, as per a report from Alan Nixon via Patreon, so perhaps that interest will re-emerge next month.

Tyrhys Dolan

22-year-old Tyrhys Dolan sees his contract expire at the end of the season, and he's a player who will likely have plenty of suitors.

It was reported by the Lancashire Telegraph that Blackburn have made no further progress in agreeing fresh terms with the club and, as it stands, he looks likely to leave at the end of the season.

Given his age, Rovers would be entitled to compensation should Dolan leave, but they will want to keep him at the club thanks to his ability and potential to improve further.

But his abilities may see overseas clubs try their luck in January to try and tie him down for the 2025-26 season and beyond, and that would see Rovers receive an even further reduced compensation package if he were to move outside of England down that route.
