The hosts have quite a few players out of action for Wednesday's clash against the Blades.

Millwall will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat against Coventry City this midweek, with a positive result against league leaders Sheffield United.

The Lions have enjoyed a fairly decent season so far, but would have been disappointed after their home defeat against the Sky Blues, considering the calibre of some of the other teams they have secured home wins against this term.

A win on Wednesday evening would help to boost morale and potentially put them in touching distance of the play-offs again, but they face a very difficult opponent in midweek.

The Blades have been in good form for much of the season and haven’t let their two-point deduction become a psychological disadvantage, with Chris Wilder’s side firmly in the mix for promotion.

It looks as though Tyrese Campbell will be available for United, which is a real boost for them considering how well the forward has played at times this season.

Below, we’re looking at players who aren’t as lucky and look set to miss Wednesday’s meeting in the English capital.

Millwall injuries ahead of Sheffield United clash

Shaun Hutchinson

Centre-back Shaun Hutchinson missed last weekend’s game with a hamstring injury.

However, he isn’t expected to be missing for the long term and Neil Harris believes he could return for this weekend, though Wednesday could come too soon for him.

Jake Cooper

Fellow centre-back Jake Cooper sustained a knee injury last month - and he won’t return until 2025.

Out for the next couple of months, the likes of Hutchinson and Japhet Tanganga will need to step up and perform well in his absence, something both defenders can do.

Josh Coburn

Striker Josh Coburn came off at half-time against Oxford United - and it was later revealed that he had broken his metatarsal.

The player is now set to be out for around two months - and that’s a blow for Harris - who told the South London Press: "He is going to miss a large chunk of an important period of football.

"Josh, when he is on the pitch, showed in the first half his qualities as a Millwall number nine and his importance to the squad and why we were so desperate to bring him in, as a profile as a striker at the football club.

"It is a big loss but we have coped very well without him in the past and we will have to do in the future."

Calum Scanlon

Liverpool loanee Calum Scanlon looked set to be an important first-team asset at The Den this term.

But he suffered a stress fracture in his back and it has continued to be an issue for him this season, with the defender set to be on the sidelines for the next month at the very least.

He is currently in Merseyside receiving treatment.

Daniel Kelly

Daniel Kelly, who has featured twice for the Lions in the league this season after his arrival in the summer, is currently out of action with an ankle injury.

According to manager Harris, he will spend around six weeks on the sidelines, which is a blow for the club, considering the other injury issues they have.

Oli Arblaster

With Campbell expected to be fine for this game and Kieffer Moore set to return, the Blades don't have too many injury issues of note.

Anel Ahmedhodzic and Harry Souttar have also served their suspensions - and both players could potentially start alongside each other in midweek.

But one player who will miss this clash is midfielder Oli Arblaster, who sustained a knee ligament injury in the Steel City derby last month.

With the player undergoing surgery, it's unclear whether he will play again this season.
