There have been some top performers for Norwich City across the 2023/24 season but that may come at a price.

The star men at Carrow Road have undoubtedly made the season easier for the Canaries but it is bound to make this summer all the more difficult – particularly after they suffered defeat in the play-off semi-finals to Leeds United.

FLW looks at the Norwich players most likely to attract attention when the transfer window opens...

1 Gabriel Sara

It is no secret that Gabriel Sara has been one of the key men at Carrow Road this season and his numbers alone will be enough to turn the heads of some elite sides.

Arriving from his native Brazil in the summer of 2022, for a fee reportedly in the region of £10 million, Sara had a positive start to his English expedition – earning 40 Championship appearances in his first season and providing seven goals and four assists from midfield.

An impressive haul but one that he has more than doubled this time out, notching 13 goals and 12 assists in 42 appearances throughout the regular Championship season, a key factor in the Canaries booking themselves a place in the play-offs.

That consistent progression, with the Brazilian still only 24 years old, is bound to draw attention, and evidence of that has already surfaced; it was revealed by GIVEMESPORT that Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are scouting the midfielder.

His numbers mean any offer for Sara will likely be hard to refuse but, with a that runs until the summer of 2026, the ball is firmly in Norwich's court.

If the Canaries are serious about regaining their Premier League status and staying there, they will need a player with an output level to that of Sara. It may be a difficult battle, made even harder if the club begins life in the Championship once more at the beginning of next season, but they must do all they can to keep hold of him.

2 Josh Sargent

Josh Sargent is another young attacking outlet that is sure to be sought after this summer.

With 16 goals in the regular Championship this season, he was the Canaries' top goalscorer. That was an improvement of three goals on last year's tally, but the fact that he only appeared 30 times this term, as opposed to 41 times in the previous campaign, suggests he has become a lot more lethal in front of goal.

That form has piqued the interest of the top flight, with Brentford credited with an interest in the USMNT forward as a potential Ivan Toney replacement.

Coming in to replace someone as prolific as Toney, and under a manager like Thomas Frank, the Bees have a project that would be tough to turn down for Sargent.

The Canaries are in an even more comfortable position with Sargent, having just months ago tied him down to a deal that keeps him at the club until 2028. That suggests the forward has faith in what manager David Wagner is building at Carrow Road, and Norwich must use this to their advantage to try and keep him at the club, as his stats only seem to be heading in one direction.

3 Jonathan Rowe

Jonathan Rowe rounds off this list and also the top three scorers for Norwich this season, with 12 goals and two assists, playing predominately off the wing.

Having made just a handful of appearances the season prior, this campaign was the 21-year-old's true breakthrough season and he has now made himself a first-team regular.

Though Norwich are set for another season in the Championship, Rowe should opt to get another season under his belt at Carrow Road, where he is almost guaranteed consistent minutes following his performances in this campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League clubs that reportedly have an interest in Rowe, but, as we have seen before, wingers and attacking full-backs are often the quickest to show promise in football and moving to an elite club at the first chance does not always work out.

It was shown through the Djed Spence saga, who had impressed at then-Championship side Nottingham Forest as a 21-year-old, took his chance to move to Spurs and made just a handful of appearances, followed by some tough loan spells.

The benefits of keeping Rowe are clear for Norwich, and they should try to do so if they can, but, using Spence's example, it is likely to also be mutually beneficial for Rowe. If he turns out to grow at a greater rate than the Canaries over the next few years, the offers will still be there, and he'll have gained greater experience. If his high-level ability levels off as he matures, then he'll have a consistent home, with a club that understands how to get the best out of him.

The transfer of Rowe may be one to revisit in seasons to come, but for now, he may be best off staying put.
