This duo will surely be heading for a move in the summer.
Notts County will still be targeting automatic promotion from League Two at the end of the season, despite their recent run of form hindering their chances a little.
The Magpies were relentless a few months ago, and propelled themselves into contention for the top three with an excellent run of form across January and February. However, recent struggles have eaten into their advantage.
Given how tight League Two has been this season, the race for the top three could be decided on extremely fine margins. If Notts are to ultimately miss out and remain in the fourth tier for next season, there will once again need to be some ruthless decisions made at Meadow Lane over the summer, in order to improve the team for another push next term.
With that in mind, here are two players who will surely want to escape the club during the summer transfer window.
Cundy arrived in Nottingham with a significant pedigree at EFL level. Spells with Bristol City and Barnsley saw him gain valuable experience of the Championship and League One, but his time at Meadow Lane simply hasn’t worked out.
His injury-hit past meant that this signing was always going to be something of a gamble for Notts, and it hasn’t really paid off.
The centre-back is currently on loan at Solihull Moors in the National League, having struggled to ever break into Stuart Maynard’s plans. Notts’ backline has been very settled so far this campaign, with Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau two of the first names on the team sheet.
Lewis Macari, Lucas Ness and Rod McDonald have all been regular features on the right of the back three, which has forced Cundy to settle for substitute appearances at best, and even those have been few and far between.
Notts can at least take solace from the fact that the defender was only handed a one-year deal when he joined the club last summer, meaning they do have a fairly easy way of moving him on when the season is over.
It would be a massive surprise to see the 27-year-old offered renewed terms to stay at the club in the summer, which will surely suit all parties. Cundy’s career has stalled badly in recent years, and he needs a change of scenery to get it back on track.
Recently recalled from his loan spell with fifth tier outfit Woking, Morias’ time at Notts could yet have one more chapter to come.
The striker has spent the entire season on loan away from Meadow Lane, but may now get the opportunity to play a crucial part in their promotion push.
However, if past seasons are anything to go by, Morias can be expected to struggle at EFL level. Barring a brief spell with Peterborough United in 2017/18, the Jamaican has found much more success in the National League over the course of his career.
A back-up signing towards the end of their incredible title race with Wrexham back in 2022/23, Notts somewhat bizarrely handed the frontman a three-year deal, which still has one year left to run.
Morias’ summer situation could now change depending on his impact between now and the end of the campaign. However, the most likely scenario is that the Magpies will still be looking to move him on.
In an ideal world, Notts can find a National League team who are willing to take him on a permanent basis, and they may even be able to recoup some of the undisclosed fee that they paid for him. However, if not, it would be no surprise to see Morias spend the whole campaign out on loan once again, until his contract runs out at the end of next season.
