Several players could miss the League One clash between Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic this weekend

Huddersfield Town will host Charlton Athletic in League One this weekend, and both sides have their fair share of injury concerns ahead of the game.

It is an important game for both Huddersfield and Charlton at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday, with the home side currently three points adrift of the top six and the visitors languishing in 13th place.

Both teams saw their games postponed due to international call-ups last weekend, so their injured players will have had an extra week to recover ahead of the fixture between the two sides on Saturday.

Huddersfield boss Michael Duff has revealed that five members of his squad have returned to fitness, with Michal Helik, Rhys Healey, Josh Koroma, Callum Marshall, Brodie Spencer all now available for selection, but he will still be without a few players for the visit of the Addicks.

Club captain Jonathan Hogg will also be available after missing the trip to Crawley Town a fortnight ago.

Charlton manager Nathan Jones likes to keep his cards close to his chest when it comes to player availability, but unless any of his injured players have recovered during the international break, the Welshman will still be without several names for the trip to West Yorkshire.

Let's take a look at which players are set to be absent this weekend.

Lasse Sorensen

The Terriers will be without Lasse Sorensen as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

The wing-back arrived from Lincoln City this past summer, but his time in Yorkshire has been hampered by his setback.

Joe Hodge

Joe Hodge is also not yet ready to return to action as he is dealing with a groin problem.

The Wolves loanee has played seven times in League One since his temporary switch.

Radinio Balker

Radinio Balker is another one who will miss out on the game against Charlton, as an ankle injury continues to keep him out.

The defender is yet to add to his seven appearances from last season after arriving in January from Groningen, and it's unlikely that he will return until 2025.

Lee Nicholls

Goalkeeper Lee Nicholls will also not be fit to face the Addicks due to a shoulder injury.

That means Jacob Chapman is likely to deputise once more, having been favoured over Chris Maxwell against Crawley Town last time out.

Antony Evans

Midfielder Antony Evans continues to be frustrated by an issue with his toe, so he too will be unavailable on Saturday.

Prior to that, the ex-Bristol Rovers man had only been making cameo appearances from the bench, which he perhaps wouldn't have expected following his move to West Yorkshire.

Kayne Ramsay

Charlton right-back Kayne Ramsay will be unavailable due to the knee injury that he picked up last month.

Ramsay has been one of Charlton's more impressive players this season, so it is a blow for Nathan Jones that the former Harrogate Town full-back is sidelined.

Dan Potts

Dan Potts has been limited to just one league appearance for Charlton this season, so he is likely to also miss out through injury too.

The ex-Luton Town left-footer is only contracted until the end of December, so he is running out of time to prove he is worthy of a new deal.

Chuks Aneke

Physical striker Chuks Aneke has been sidelined for the Addicks' last four games, so there is every chance that he will be unavailable once more this weekend.

Aneke is a player that has had regular fitness issues for years, so being sidelined is no surprise at all to Addicks supporters.

Daniel Kanu

Daniel Kanu has also been absent for Charlton's last four fixtures, and he was not called up by Sierra Leone for the latest international break, so it seems likely that he could be unavailable again on Saturday.

The 20-year-old is yet to score for the Addicks this season, having scored six times in League One the previous campaign.

Will Mannion

First-choice goalkeeper Will Mannion missed his first league game of the season last time out, so unless he has returned to fitness over the last fortnight, he will also be ruled out.

Tyreece Campbell

Forward Tyreece Campbell is perhaps Charlton's quickest player, but he was also injured for the Addicks' most recent game, so he will have needed to make a recent recovery to be available this weekend.

Despite being utilised as a striker for much of the season, Campbell is still yet to get off the mark in League One for 2024-25.

Tennai Watson

Tennai Watson's injury has caused Jones a selection headache at right-back due to Ramsay also being sidelined, and there has been no indication that he has returned to fitness in time for the trip to Huddersfield.

Zach Mitchell started against Exeter City last time out, and you'd expect him to continue in that role.

Lloyd Jones

Centre-back Lloyd Jones was one of Charlton's standout players this season prior to his injury, but he has been ruled out since early October.

Given Charlton have not won in their last four matches, they could really do with their most reliable defender in the form of Jones returning sooner rather than later.
