Following their pre-season camp in Austria, Eddie Howe's side take on last season's Scottish Premiership champions in the first meeting between the two sides at Celtic Park since 2004, competing for the first-ever adidas Trophy whilst being backed by 10,000 travelling away supporters.

Nick Pope, who kept nine competitive clean sheets last term, starts in-between the sticks behind a four man defence, with Fabian Schär and Sven Botman situated in central defence while Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett, the latter gaining his first United start since February, occupy the defensive flanks.

Bruno Guimarães captains the visitors alongside Lewis Miley and Joe Willock in the middle of the park while Jacob Murphy, celebrating eight years today since joining his boyhood club from Norwich City, and Harvey Barnes will aim to provide attacking support for Osula.

Alexander Isak and Joelinton do not feature in today's matchday squad, with the pair both having their minutes managed, but Howe has a number of experienced options to deploy from the bench, including new signing Elanga, who arrived from Nottingham Forest last week, as well as Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Dan Burn.

Jamaal Lascelles made his first senior outing for the Magpies since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in March 2024 during a behind-closed doors friendly against Carlisle United last weekend and the former Magpies captain has been named on the bench as well as defensive trio Emil Krafth, Harrison Ashby and Alex Murphy.

Sean Neave, who was named on the bench for United's Carabao Cup final victory against Liverpool in March, will be targeting a first-team debut for his boyhood club this afternoon while Joe White, Travis Hernes and Anthony Munda, all products of the Magpies' Academy, will be seeking more valuable minutes at senior level.

Martin Dúbravka and John Ruddy are the substitute goalkeepers.
