Sunderland midfielder Cassap signs first professional deal | OneFootball

Sunderland’s teenage midfielder Emily Cassap has signed her first professional contract with the club.

The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 17-year-old England youth international has been on the fringes of Sunderland’s senior squad for the last two seasons and she has made four appearances for The Lady Black Cats to date, scoring one goal. Cassap has successfully graduated to the first team after spending a decade within Sunderland’s academy system.

Cassap is an exciting prospect for the future and she will now begin her professional career with Sunderland after signing terms with the Wearside club.

After signing her first professional contract with Sunderland, Cassap said “I’m delighted. It’s something that I’ve worked towards for my whole time here at Sunderland so it’s just a big milestone for me. Sunderland has given me a lot in the time I’ve been here and I’m really pleased that I’ve made it to this point. It’s just a great feeling to play for a club that I’ve supported all my life.”

Cassap will be aiming to push for further first team involvement when the Sunderland squad begin their 2025/2026 pre-season programme later this summer.
