Josha Vagnoman has committed his future to VfB Stuttgart, extending his contract by two years until June 2028. The 24-year-old, who joined from Hamburger SV in the summer of 2022, has made 88 competitive appearances for the club and has become a key figure on the flanks.
Since his arrival, Vagnoman has experienced both the fight for survival and moments of triumph with Stuttgart, from securing Bundesliga safety in the 2023 relegation play-off to qualifying for the Champions League and lifting the DFB Cup last season. During this time, he also earned his first senior cap for Germany.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth underlined how significant the extension is for the club, as per club media: “Josha is with the VfB on a special path that has taken us from the relegation play-off to finishing runners-up in the league and winning the DFB-Pokal. He can play on either flank, which, alongside his footballing qualities, makes him a valuable part of our squad. We are pleased we were able to agree on a new contract and to continue our journey together.”
Vagnoman himself said he had no hesitation in signing: “I feel very comfortable within the team and throughout the club, and I’m proud of the path we have already taken together. At the same time, it motivates me to keep developing and to be successful with the VfB in the future. It is very positive how the fans push us, and it’s even nicer when we can give something back with our performances.”
The Hamburg-born full-back is now in his fourth season with Stuttgart. He made 29 appearances in his debut campaign before injuries limited him to 20 the following year.
Last season, he returned strongly, playing 35 matches. He has started both Bundesliga games this season, against Union Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach, and has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in a Stuttgart shirt.
