Man Utd Offered Chance to Sign £200,000-a-Week Juventus Striker

Desire to join Premier League intensifies as Vlahovic eyes Old Trafford switch

Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign Dusan Vlahovic, with the Juventus striker reportedly “desperate” to play in the Premier League and particularly eager to work under Ruben Amorim, according to GiveMeSport. The 24-year-old Serbia international, who has just one year remaining on his Juventus contract, is expected to leave the Serie A side this summer after being deemed surplus to long-term requirements.

Vlahovic, who commands a wage of around £200,000 per week, has expressed a clear preference for a move to England and is “hopeful that head coach Ruben Amorim will pounce as he seeks fresh firepower at Old Trafford”. Intermediaries and his representatives are now actively working to facilitate a deal that would bring him to Manchester.

Man Utd seek striker solution after underwhelming season

Following a torrid 2024–25 campaign that saw United finish 15th in the league and suffer a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, change at Old Trafford is both necessary and inevitable. While Matheus Cunha has already been signed and Bryan Mbeumo remains a target, United’s search for a reliable number nine continues.

Neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee have convinced in front of goal, leading Amorim to prioritise a striker he knows well. Viktor Gyokeres, whom Amorim coached at Sporting CP, remains the manager’s first-choice target, while Jean-Philippe Mateta is also under consideration.

Premier League top of Vlahovic’s wish list

According to GiveMeSport, Vlahovic has turned down interest from Turkey’s Trendyol Super Lig and is refusing to engage in discussions with other suitors until it becomes clear whether a Premier League move is viable. “He remains hopeful that a move to England can be secured,” a source close to the situation confirmed.

Despite the high wages, United are expected to weigh up their options carefully, particularly with budget constraints and the need to reinforce other areas of the squad.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

Dusan Vlahovic is undoubtedly talented — powerful, clinical and just 24 years old — but the question remains: is he truly the striker to lead a club out of its worst Premier League season in decades?

There is a concern that Vlahovic’s camp is driving the narrative more than the club itself. Phrases like “desperate to join” and “hoping for Amorim to pounce” feel more like agent talk than a strategic transfer approach. It’s reminiscent of past windows where United have been offered marquee names rather than targeting structurally sound solutions.

More worrying is the wage demand. At £200,000 per week, this is no low-risk signing. United have made too many errors offering high wages to high-profile signings who underdeliver. If Vlahovic is not Amorim’s top target, fans would question why the club should prioritise him over someone like Gyokeres — a proven fit for the manager’s system.

Unless there’s clear conviction from Amorim himself, this might be one to steer clear of. Manchester United need direction, not desperation.
