According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace have struck an agreement to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaïla Coulibaly (21) in a direct deal between the clubs. The Frenchman is set to sign a five-year deal at directly Strasbourg, and won’t be loaned via fellow BlueCo club Chelsea. Last night the two clubs reportedly reached an agreement over a transfer worth €7.5m, as the player is set to travel to the Alsace region shortly to complete a medical and sign a five-year contract with the club. The FC Montfermeil youth player returns to French football for the first time since leaving the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy before he move to Germany to sign for Borussia Dortmund in 2021. The young defender made 25 appearances for BVB‘s second team before making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League in November 2022 followed by another solitary league outing in April 2023. The defender was then loaned out to Stade Brestois last season for what was a memorable UEFA Champions League campaign which saw Les Pirates qualify for the round of 16 in their maiden European outing. The Frenchman made 16 appearances for Brest last season in all competitions.GFFN | George Boxall
