Steven Gerrard set to reunite with former Liverpool teammate at Auxerre | OneFootball

Two Liverpool legends will reunite on the pitch at the Stade de l’Abbé Deschamps this May with Steven Gerrard featuring in Djibril Cissé’s “jubilee” match.

Cissé played with Gerrard on 60 occasions between 20024 and 2006. The former began his career at AJ Auxerre in 1998 before making the €20m move to Anfield in the summer of 2004. Since retiring in 2021, the former France international has returned to Auxerre, where he forms part of Christophe Pélissier’s backroom staff. He is currently working at the Ligue 1 side as a forwards coach.

He is now set to have a “jubilee” match and the Frenchman, in a post on social media, has confirmed that his former Liverpool teammate, Gerrard, will feature. The match, which will take place on 27th May, will see an AJ Auxerre Legends XI play against Cissé All-Stars. The match will bring together former AJA players and “the biggest names” from French and international football.
