Starter or substitute? Barcelona’s plans for Marcus Rashford | OneFootball

An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga champions Barcelona for incoming signing Marcus Rashford has been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that, initially at least, the Englishman will need to make do with backup status.

The name of frontman Rashford has of course emerged as a prominent one across all of Spain over the last 24 hours.

This comes after Barcelona finally made the call to push ahead with the 27-year-old’s signing.

The two parties, along with Manchester United, have agreed on the terms of a one-year loan deal, featuring an option to buy.

Rashford finds himself heading into a squad packed with attacking talent, with a clear first-choice front-three already in place.

The trio of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, of course, are fresh off a spectacular collective campaign in 2024/25.

In turn, it should not come as a massive surprise to hear of Rashford being readied for a place amongst the Blaugrana reserves.

As per a report from Diario Sport, while Hansi Flick is ‘very confident in the effect that Marcus can have,’ the England international has already been made aware that ‘he will come as a substitute’.
