According to a report from BILD journalist Christian Falk, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Bayern Munich and French national team winger Kingsley Coman this coming summer - where he will be into the final two years of his current contract.

On the Daily Briefing, Falk said: “Kingsley Coman is attracting Premier League interest. I heard about interest from Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham. Saudi Arabia is also a topic at the moment. I personally wouldn’t sell him at Bayern Munich, but if you want to change the squad [by making signings], you need to sell someone!”

There is no doubt that the two clubs have a good relationship. After Harry Kane joined the Bavarian side in the summer of 2023, Eric Dier soon followed him in the winter of 2024. Then, last summer, the sides played out two pre-season friendlies – one in Seoul, the home country of Bayern defender Kim-Min Jae and Spurs forward Heung-Min Son – as well as a game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Kane and Dier made their returns.

Since then, we saw Mathys Tel join Spurs from Bayern in the winter of this year, with the club having an option to buy the player in the summer, should he also agree to a move. So, it is clear to see there is a good working relationship between the two clubs.

The Frenchman has been in and out of the team under Vincent Kompany so far, playing in 22 Bundesliga games this season, starting exactly half of those. In his time on the pitch, he has scored four goals, provided four assists, and created six big chances.

Whilst he will probably get offers from more attractive clubs than Spurs, perhaps Ange’s side can guarantee him more game time than other suitors? Post Euros, he was only called up to one France squad out of a possible three, and only played 20 minutes across two games. His next move will surely be conscious of game time if he wants to be a regular fixture in Les Blues’ squads.

In the summer, Coman will turn 29. Some may say that is slightly too old, but it is also hard to argue that Spurs do need players in their prime right now. They have so many young players, as well as one or two that are over the hill, in age and/or their current performances.
