Ange Postecoglou confirmed defenders Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie are “fine” after he opted not to play them against Southampton, and that Richarlison is set to play again soon.
Spurs secured a much-needed 3-1 win over Southampton, who have now been officially relegated back down to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.
Brennan Johnson scored twice and later won a penalty for Mathys Tel to score his first league goal for the club.
But Postecoglou opted to leave both van de Ven and Udogie on the bench during the game and he explained it was due to being cautious with both, having missed significant game time through injury this season.
The Spurs boss also revealed Richarlison is set for a return to action imminently having been named on the bench against Southampton.
“Destiny and Micky are fine,” he said.
“Obviously they’ve missed a lot of football this year and it made sense for us to, kind of, put them on ice today.
“Richarlison is good. We’ve kind of done this with a few of the boys now who are coming back, sort of get them involved in the match day. There was the possibility of him getting a run out today.
“I just think when they’re involved in a match day it just gets rid of a lot of the nerves or anxiety when you’re coming back from a long time out and it’s great to have him back.
“He’ll get another few days of training and no doubt he’ll play a part from now on.”
Spurs ended their run of four league games without a win by beating Southampton but Postecoglou urged his side to improve when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg on Thursday.
He said: “I was really happy with the first half, I thought we were really disciplined, well organised and we limited them to one chance. Every time we went forward we looked dangerous.
“The second half not so much, I thought we became really passive without the ball and allowed Southampton to get a bit of a rhythm. We were really sloppy with the ball and the substitutions we made didn’t really make the impact I wanted them to.
“But overall the important thing is we got the win, scored three goals, everyone got through unscathed and we’re ready for a big night on Thursday.”
