Técnico falou em coletiva antes da partida deste sábado

O técnico do City, falando em sua coletiva de imprensa na tarde de sexta-feira, foi questionado se Riyad Mahrez poderia retornar ao clube depois que a Argélia foi eliminada da Copa Africana de Nações na primeira fase.

Mas nosso atual artilheiro não jogará contra os Saints depois de um período de descanso.

"Agora ele tem uma semana de férias", disse Pep.

"Depois da CAN, ele tem permissão para uma semana de folga e voltará com a equipe na próxima semana."

Guardiola também foi solicitado a atualizar as condições físicas de Nathan Ake e Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Ake já jogou 14 vezes nesta temporada - mais do que em toda a campanha 2020/21 - e está em excelente forma.

Zinchenko, que jogou uma dúzia de vezes nesta temporada, não está disponível desde a vitória do Boxing Day sobre o Leicester City.

"Nathan está pronto, Zinchenko não", disse ele.

Além disso, o chefe também confirmou que os jogadores terão vários dias de descanso após o jogo do Southampton.

Havia a possibilidade de uma viagem da equipe a Abu Dhabi para uma pausa no clima quente, mas devido aos possíveis riscos do COVID, a equipe não viajará para o exterior.

“Falamos com o clube e não é seguro irmos todos juntos (para Abu Dhabi) com o vírus”, afirmou Pep.

“Em vez disso, decidimos que todos iriam sozinhos com a família e os amigos”.
