Southampton ‘are causing serious trouble’ and demanding ‘serious bonuses’ to let one of their players join an interested club this summer.
Saints are adjusting to life back in the Championship and have a new manager at the helm in the shape of Will Still, while Paul Trollope is tipped to become his assistant.
There will be changes in the playing squad and striker Paul Onuachu has been widely expected to leave, with a move to Trabzonspor claimed to be very close.
However, it appears they are yet to fully convince the Saints to sell the striker and it is claimed that there are issues in the talks.
Last summer, Southampton refused to sell the player for anything less than their €10m valuation.
That stance has softened this year, given the fact that Onuachu will enter the final 12 months of his contract next month.
However, according to Trabzonspor insider Yunus Emre, Southampton are ‘causing serious trouble’ in the negotiations.
Trabzonspor do have an agreement in place with Onuachu, who is keen to head back to Trabzon, where he was settled and enjoyed his football.
Saints though want ‘serious bonuses’ adding on to the transfer fee package.
Trabzonspor are working hard to solve the problem and the signing will be confirmed once the issues are resolved.
For now, therefore, the Onuachu transfer saga is far from over.
While in Turkey, Onuachu scored 17 goals in 25 matches for Trabzonspor, as the club managed to secure a Europa League qualifier spot.
At Southampton, he has just been a shadow of that, having scored just four goals in 40 appearances.
