Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is planning ahead in case Rodrygo leaves the club this summer.
As per an update from Defensa Central, the new boss has asked the board to start searching for a proper replacement should the Brazilian winger decide to move on.
Rodrygo’s future remains uncertain, even though pre-season is underway. In recent hours, Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with renewed interest in the 24-year-old, sparking speculation that a big move might be on the horizon.
Alonso, who is wasting no time putting his stamp on the team, has made one thing clear that if Rodrygo is sold, Madrid must go all in for a new right-footed winger. According to him, the squad lacks sufficient depth in that area.
Although the club recently signed Franco Mastantuono, and Brahim Diaz can also play wide, neither quite replicates Rodrygo’s unique style and attacking flair.

The manager, therefore, wants the money earned from any potential sale to be fully reinvested in finding the ideal replacement, someone who can step in immediately and match Rodrygo’s impact.
At the moment, Liverpool appear to be making major moves in the transfer market, especially after parting ways with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Their main target seems to be Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, and they are pushing hard to get the deal over the line. If successful, that would close the door for Rodrygo to Anfield.
As for PSG, their interest seems to depend on whether Liverpool fail to sign Isak. In such a case, the Reds would target Bradley Barcola, which would force PSG to look for a replacement, and Rodrygo appears to be the chosen one.
For now, Real Madrid are keeping calm. But if Rodrygo does leave, Alonso has made his demands clear.
The club must act swiftly and wisely because losing a player of Rodrygo’s quality without replacing him could be a serious blow.
