Sources: Rangers look to offload Scott Wright this summer | OneFootball

It has been (unofficially) confirmed that Rangers seek to offload Scott Wright this summer after the winger was deemed surplus to requirements with the new contract for Oscar Cortes secure and Rangers working on further winger additions.

The 26-year-old attacker, who has 117 appearances for Rangers since January 2020, joined the club from Aberdeen under ex-manager Steven Gerrard where he impressed in a few meetings between the sides, and was considered a very useful squad acquisition.

It’s safe to say however that the lad probably hasn’t been able to step up to Rangers levels even if he’s never let himself down per se, but the simple reality is he’s nowhere near good enough for Rangers’ bench never mind as a starter.

We do not want to be unfair on Wright – it’s clearly he’s a good egg and just doing the best he can with his ‘limited’ qualities, and if half of our players worked as hard as he does we’d be in a better place.

But the reality is he falls very short of Rangers level, and despite all of that he’s managed four years of his career at a club this size – he knows this is the best his career will ever get.

We say fair play to him, his Rangers race is now looking to be run and the club seek to find better quality moving forwards, but there can be few, outside the gnarling of teeth when he was in the starting XI, that can say he didn’t do himself justice and was a waste of a shirt

He did of course try to secure a move last summer to Pendikspor which fell through after his wage demands, so he is likely to see pastures new this summer if he can find someone who can.

He is only on a modest £5,000pw at Ibrox, but that is already too much for most SPL clubs.

It does seem though that his Rangers adventure ends here.
