The in-form Sky Blues playmaker starred in a crucial win against their play-off-chasing rivals.
An abundance of Coventry City stars have reacted to Jack Rudoni's exploits against West Bromwich Albion on Good Friday, with the playmaker taking to Instagram after a crucial win in his side's play-off bid.
The Sky Blues have produced a stunning run of momentum ever since Frank Lampard's appointment in late November, and a record league crowd of 31,167 inside the CBS Arena saw his team see off Tony Mowbray's outfit in a contest which would prove pivotal to either club's chances of making the top six in one form or another.
Rudoni, who has earned mass praise from the former Chelsea and England icon in the dugout, set Coventry on their way to a sixth win in seven home games after just six minutes as he drilled home a deflected low cross from Haji Wright, before Matt Grimes doubled the lead after 48 minutes, with Albion left-back Callum Styles shown his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card just three minutes later.
The summer signing has excelled in Sky Blue this season after his £5m move which followed Huddersfield Town's relegation into League One, with the subsequent reaction from his teammates highlighting how well respected he is in this part of the West Midlands as City sit three points inside the play-offs ahead of Middlesbrough with as many matches remaining.
The vast majority of the 23-year-old's 19 goal contributions have come since Lampard's first game in charge against Cardiff City on November 30th, with two goals and as many assists coming upon his return from a short-term shoulder injury, as well as dictating the majority of the game in the 1-1 draw with Hull City last Monday.
Taking to Instagram after what was undoubtedly the biggest of Coventry's 19 league wins this term, Rudoni posted the caption "Home. Iykyk (if you know, you know) @hajiwright 😷" showcasing his celebration with City's top scorer and record signing, who has also been in scintillating form since returning from a lengthy lay-off.
This was greeted with plenty of joyful responses from the likes of left-back, Jay Dasilva, who posted: Playerrrrr 🔥" whilst he was described as "serious" and "some player" by his midfield compatriots, Ben Sheaf and the aforementioned Grimes, who is proving to be a stunning piece of business from Lampard having joined in January from Swansea City.
Rudoni's former Tonbridge Angels colleague and current Tooting and Mitcham FC goalkeeper, Toby McKimm, also stated that he is the "English Zizou" whilst the Sky Blues' official account responded with a tongue-in-cheek "bro we don’t know" in reference to the initial caption.
The likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Joel Latibeaudiere, Jamie Paterson and Wright were also in the comments, highlighting the playmaker's popularity among supporters and the rest of the squad at the CBS.
Since Lampard's first game in charge, only Leeds United and Burnley have collected more than Coventry's 49-point haul in 26 games, which is a testament to the former Derby County boss' influence after an inconsistent beginning to the campaign under Mark Robins.
The 46-year-old stated post-match that there is "more to come," from his team who now face back-to-back away encounters against relegation-threatened Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town, before seeing the regular season out against Middlesbrough in what could prove to be an all-or-nothing clash depending on results in the next two fixtures.
Regardless, Lampard has an array of high-performing stars at his disposal who are capable of further strengthening City's grip on a play-off place, and he will be pinning his hopes on Rudoni, who, unsurprisingly, leads the way in an array of attacking and creative metrics.
