Sky: Mission impossible as 9th place looms for Milan – the schedule of their rivals | OneFootball

AC Milan are sitting in 9th place in the Serie A standings and if we look at the remaining games, both for the Rossoneri and their rivals, improving the position seems like an impossible mission.

As we discussed in our newsletter already at the start of April, a 9th-place finish is the most likely for Milan. Their European rivals have been in good form and when handed the chance, the Rossoneri have failed to take it.

Sky Italia has outlined the remaining games for the European contenders, with Milan sitting on 54 points at the moment. Five points separate them and Fiorentina in 8th with just four games to go, while both teams still have Roma and Bologna to face.

Lazio could potentially lose two games, but they will most likely also win two so a recovery seems unlikely for Milan in that sense. Not to mention that Bologna and Roma will do everything in their power to win their remaining games to clinch Champions League, while the Rossoneri are in a bit of a no man’s land.

For Sergio Conceicao’s men, full focus will be on the Coppa Italia and it certainly makes sense, especially since even leapfrogging Fiorentina wouldn’t give them Europa League (but rather Conference League, which isn’t worth it).
