Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano has provided an interesting analysis of AC Milan’s current situation, suggesting that there is a figure missing within the current management setup.

Milan are going into another international break under a lot of scrutiny after back-to-back defeats against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League and Fiorentina in Serie A, which followed an impressive derby win and a thrashing of Lecce.

The belief is that Paulo Fonseca is back under pressure as the head coach but the players have also had the lens turned on them after the farcical incidents that took place during the defeat in Florence, such as the penalty mutiny and Theo Hernandez’s red card as the captain.

Di Stefano spoke live on Sky outside Milanello about what he perceives to be internal problems at Milan that also spilled out onto the field during the match against Fiorentina, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“I don’t want to make a list of those who are to blame, but right now something is missing in the club. Because, as it is right at this moment to put the focus on the team and the coach, in my opinion today more than in the past, we need the presence more than ever, not only physical, but also dialectical, of a manager who could speak immediately after with the players, who could speak with the press, who could talk about Milan’s delicate moment,” he said.

“I believe that it will probably happen. It will also happen in the next few days. We spoke a month ago about Ibra’s absence against Lazio, but he didn’t speak to the team or in general. I think it’s more important than ever that they stay close to the Rossoneri environment. Because it’s a very delicate moment of the season.”
