Manchester United are increasingly confident in their ability to snatch the signature of Patrick Dorgu before the end of the January transfer session.
With less than a week separating time from the deadline, the Red Devils are accelerating their attempts to bolster their left flank. While bringing back Alvaro Carreras from Benfica could be one of the solutions, Dorgu remains the club’s priority target according to all accounts.
The Premier League giants have been negotiating a deal with Lecce who have set their price at €40 million and are refusing to succumb to the growing pressure, either from United or the player’s entourage who are also pushing for the operation.
Nevertheless, many at the club believe they can eventually find a compromise that suits all parties.

According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, the two clubs are working on finding an accord in the region of £30, as the optimism at Man Utd is growing.
“Positive talks between Manchester United and Lecce over the signing of defender Patrick Dorgu continued on Monday – and there is now a growing belief a deal can be struck,” revealed the journalist.
“It’s understood the fee under discussion is in the region of £30m, with negotiations continuing over the structure.
“The deal is not done yet and United will walk away if they’re not satisfied with the overall package. Personal terms are not expected to be a problem.
“United will consider triggering the buyback clause for Benfica defender Alvaro Fernandez Carreras if they can’t come to an agreement over Dorgu.”
Dorgu is a 20-year-old Denmark international who cemented himself as one of the best youngsters in Serie A over the past year or so. His Lecce teammate Nikola Kristovic hailed him as an ‘incredible player’. Whilst he’s originally a left-back, he also has experience playing as an inverted right winger.
