Simone Inzaghi left Inter Milan to join Al-Hilal earlier this month despite the club’s best effort to keep him at the San Siro.

Interviewed by La Stampa via FCInter1908, the 49-year-old reiterated his love for the Nerazzurri colors after a sudden exit.

To say Inzaghi’s decision to leave Inter for Al-Hilal caught everyone by surprise would be an understatement.

Indeed, the ex-Lazio boss enjoyed vast success in Lombardy, establishing himself as a symbol of a new era at Giuseppe Meazza.

However, Al-Hilal’s monstrous contract proposal saw Simone Inzaghi trade his love for a fat check.

Furthermore, the timing couldn’t have been any worse.

He announced his departure just days after Paris Saint-Germain battered Inter in the Champions League final.

As such, he has quickly gone from one of the most beloved figures to the most polarizing in the club’s recent history.

Needless to say, many fans feel betrayed by the abrupt nature of his exit.

Yet, Inzaghi is now part of Inter’s past as the club embarks on a new cycle under Cristian Chivu.

Inter and Inzaghi are in the United States fighting for FIFA Club World Cup glory.

While the Nerazzurri collected four points from the first two rounds, Al-Hilal have drawn against RB Salzburg and Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi addressed the press after a scoreless stalemate against the Austrian outfit.

“I didn’t watch Inter’s matches, but I think my feelings for the Nerazzurri club are clear to everyone,” he said.

“I had four wonderful years and only have good memories of Milan, of Inter, of its fans and the club itself.”

However, he doesn’t question his decision to take the Al-Hilal job for a second.

“Together with these guys, I’ll have some great satisfaction,” he continued.

“Let’s not forget that we’ve only been together for about a week. I’m really satisfied because these guys have played two great matches.

“I’ve just started, I spent a week in Saudi Arabia, now we’ve been in America for ten days, but I’m doing really well.

“It’s a club that wanted me at all costs and is trying to help me both on and off the pitch.

“It’s an experience that, in my opinion, it was the right time to take on.”
