Serie A star wanted for Spain call-up, but he has a tough decision to make | OneFootball

When it comes to representing your nation as a footballer, many players end up having to make a tough decision with regards to who they represent.

When a player qualifies to represent more than one nation, they have to make a choice about which nation to declare their allegiance to.

This is a problem facing Serie A side Como’s winger Assane Diao. The former Real Betis player is wanted for a call-up to the Spain squad, as per Cadena SER.

The 19-year-old has represented Spain at youth level, but is also eligible to represent his birth country of Senegal.

There have been recent suspicions that Diao is set to accept a call-up for the Senegal national team, but at the same time the youngster remains wanted by the Spanish setup.

While it is not yet known whether this would be with the U21 side or the senior side, the fact remains that Diao is wanted by the Spain coaches.

This leaves the youngster in a position with quite a tough decision to make.
