Como commanded the first 20 minutes of this game. Amongst high expectations and strong winds the home side took an early lead when Nicolò Casale accidentally put the ball into his own net.

The error was caused by Patrick Cutrone; the former Wolves forward that has turned his career around back home in Italy. He looked particularly sharp as Como played their first home Serie A match for two decades.

Riccardo Orsolini cut inside for Bologna but put a powerful effort wide as the visitors had a spell in the game where they created a few openings in the Como box. Bologna attacked in numbers whenever they got the chance but Cutrone was always ready for a counter attack at the other end.

Towards the end of the first period it was certainly Bologna looking more likely as they were inches away from being awarded a penalty. Hosts Como would have been delighted to hear the whistle.

However Como came out firing in the second half and Patrick Cutrone doubled their lead in the 53rd minute with a fantastic run and finish. The striker who has been capped by Italy and played over 60 times for A.C Milan showed the sort of quality that many have always said he is capable of.

As the sun finally came out in Como, the home side continued to cut through a high Bologna backline in search of a third goal. Argentinian attacker Nico Paz robbed the ball from the Bologna backline on another occasion, but at the other end the away side struck the upright with a fine effort, albeit against the run of play.

Como had more of a spring in their step for this encounter, after all it was a historic home return. Bologna on the other hand looked like they had one eye on Wednesday’s Champions League opener against Shaktar; their first European Cup game for 60 years.

Then, with just under 15 minutes remaining, Bologna pulled one back and the atmosphere in the ground changed pretty quickly. The visitors brought on the likes of Samuel Iling Junior and Dan Ndoye and with no time remaining the latter smashed in an equaliser for Bologna with a fine strike across the goalkeeper.

Como might have deserved a victory today, but they were punished by some clinical finishing in the second period, and at the very death they were clinging on for dear life.
